Juan Larios admits he was on track for a January exit if not for one reason

Southampton doubled down their focus on loan deals last season which emptied away any remaining slot for Juan Larios to at least attempt to finish the season on a strong note.

Without a doubt, Southampton oversee plenty of loan transfers in the previous campaign. And the general feeling among their results was decent alongside a few star performers in Shea Charles and Samuel Edozie.

But these many loans also mean one thing, maximizing the loan slots to the full extent. Now, this efficiency isn't a compliment and for rare featuring Saints like Juan Larios, it was a disappointing blow.

First things first, the 21-year-old's first team Southampton career is virtually over since a few years. Thus, the only playing options he has is either continue starting for the U21s which isn't a feasible idea for the full-back as seasons go by.

The other is to keep faith in his transfer luck to secure him any top flight escape route, which, isn't in Larios hands in the first place. Despite that, one comeback chance felt on the cards for Larios but the Saints had already brought their foreign loan slots down to zero.

In the words of Larios, Daily Echo quoted him saying: "I was looking for a loan, but there were no more international loans available, so I couldn't go."

Southampton must hand Larios his missed chance soon

Keeping biases aside, Southampton must prioritize Larios in the loans pecking order for the next campaign's total allowed limit. That's because other loanees like Ben Brereton Diaz did instill hopes of a much-awaited permanent sale but ended up without convincing any team about their current form.

Barring some out-of-the-box bids, Diaz is set to be handed another loan, thus, it's only fair that Larios also deserves at least one chance and that too, quickly.

Around three months are remaining in the transfer window which is a good duration for Larios and Southampton to complete a decent season-long loan hunt. Will they succeed, let's hope so.
