Recently, Samuel Edozie was very close to join Rangers on a season long loan transfer on the final day of the transfer window, however, the move didn't happen as Rangers didn't complete the deal despite reaching an agreement with Southampton. Therefore, Edozie stayed at Southampton, and manager Russell Martin expressed his thoughts on the failed loan move, highlighting it as a great opportunity for the former Manchester City talent, to improve his skills as a left winger in Scotland.

Edozie joined Southampton last year in a £5 million move from Manchester City, after an impressive performance for City's youth teams and even made an appearance for Pep Guardiola's side. In his two seasons at the St. Mary's Stadium, Edozie has scored six goals and provided three assists in 63 matches for Southampton. Now, Edozie could be set for a season long loan move this time, with Anderlecht involved in negotiations with the Saints to sign Edozie on a loan transfer.

The summer transfer window has closed in the Europe's top leagues, but in other countries like Belgium, Portugal and Turkey, the clubs can still make further additions to their squad in the next ten days. Anderlecht have qualified for the UEFA Europa League this season, after finishing second in the Belgian league last season. Hence, Edozie will get more playing time at Anderlecht and will get a chance to showcase his high potential at the European stage this season.

Southampton have signed Ryan Fraser and Maxwel Cornet to bolster their squad depth in the attack. In the first three matches in the Premier League, Russell Martin's side have scored only one goal, that came in a 3-1 defeat with a brilliant finish from Yukinari Sugawara. Now, it's time for the Saints front three to increase their efforts and score more goals to take more points in the league.
