In the final week of the summer transfer window, there was uncertainty surrounding Samuel Edozie's situation at Southampton. The talented left winger wanted a move to a new team in order to get more playing time in this season and therefore was open to a loan move to join Rangers. The deal was progressing well between the two clubs however, Rangers didn't completed the transfer move and Edozie looked highly likely to stay at the St. Mary's Stadium this season.
But in the next few days, Belgian side Anderlecht expressed an interest in the former Manchester City academy star and reached an agreement with the Saints to bring him on a season long loan signing. Now, Edozie has recently made his Anderlecht debut while coming as a second half substitute in the second half in a 2-2 draw with Westerlo. In his debut appearance, Edozie completed out of passes and created key passes as well to try and find the winning goal in the match.

His performance has been praised by the Saints manager Russell Martin, who also talked about him after Southampton's win over Everton in the Carabao Cup, saying,
"I think it's brilliant for him. Sam wanted to go out on loan and play from day one of pre-season. He had his mind set on playing elsewhere this season and playing every game.

Now he has to go and play every week at Anderlecht, a big club with a lot of expectations. It will be interesting. We will watch with a lot of excitement at what he can do."
Further, Martin advised the young forward to give a much better performance than last season where he scored goals and assists for Southampton in the Championship. Edozie has shown his high potential in his first game for Anderlecht and will want to keep his momentum going and score a lot of goals and assists in the Belgian league this season. If he successfully does that, he can be a star player for Southampton in the upcoming years and can become one of the best Premier League forwards as well.
