Shea Charles reveals his Southampton role model

Recently, Southampton's promising midfielder Shea Charles joined Championship side Sheffield Wednesday on a loan move in this summer transfer window. Charles spoke about his ambitions to get more playing time and improve his game as a box-to-box midfielder and also dreams of becoming a starter in the Northern Ireland national team. Now, Charles has revealed his Southampton role model, who is also his inspiration from the national team.
The former Manchester City academy talent has admired former Saints star Steven Davis since his teenage years and even shared the pitch alongside his role model while playing for Northern Ireland last year. Speaking about his role model Steven Davis, Charles said,

"I learned quite a bit when I first joined. I maybe had only 1-2 camps but you could see how he is on the pitch and how he is as a person.

I probably should ask more questions to be honest, that's on me, but even when we're playing he speaks about ways to get on the ball more, better ways to affect the game."
Steven Davis retired from his playing career at the beginning of this year, and at the age of 39, became the interim head coach of Northern Ireland. Davis played seven years at the St. Mary's Stadium and made 226 appearances for the Saints scoring 14 goals alongside providing 25 assists for the club. Now, he is guiding several young stars like Shea Charles who want to become a key player for their club as well as the national team.
Recently, Shea Charles featured in this international break and started for Northern Ireland in their 2-0 win over Luxembourg and made two key passes in that game. In the next game, Charles performed well however, Bulgaria took a 1-0 win over Northern Ireland. Now, after the international break, Shea Charles will focus on putting in an impressive performance for Sheffield Wednesday as they face Queens Park Rangers in a home fixture this week.
