Southampton enter the race to sign UEFA Euro 2024 star on a free transfer

Although the summer transfer window is closed, Premier League teams can still sign players on a free transfer until next week. Currently, Southampton are working on sending several young players on a season long loan moves so that they get more first team experience and playing time this season. Therefore, the club should also making some reinforcements to their squad on a free transfer.
According to a recent report from HITC, Turkey midfielder Yusuf Yazici is attracting transfer interest from several Premier League teams like Newcastle United, Fulham and Wolves. Southampton are also one of his admirers and have entered the race to sign the 27-year-old creative playmaker. Yazici left French side Lille at the end of this season after making over a hundred appearances and scored 29 goals and provided 15 assists for the club.

The Turkish playmaker, who can also play as a left winger, has made 45 appearances for his national team and made two appearances in the UEFA Euro 2024 this summer. Currently, Southampton are trying to improve their build up play inside the final third and thus, having a player like Yazici can help the Saints advance the ball forward quickly near the box and help them create more goal scoring chances in every match.
However, several clubs in Turkey are also considering signing Yazici with defending champions Galatasaray interested in bringing him to their squad. A return to his former club Trabzonspor where he spent the 2022/23 season on a season long loan move from Lille isn't ruled out as well, therefore, Southampton need to move quickly to secure the services of Yusuf Yazici on a free transfer. The Saints have been struggling to score goals in the Premier League, therefore, signing a quality forward will be a great decision and it remains to be seen whether Yusuf Yazici arrives at the St. Mary's Stadium this season.
