The UEFA Nations League 2024/25 started this week with top European teams having played the first of their two group stage matches this month. Many current and former Southampton stars are representing their national teams in this international break. However, former Southampton star Che Adams didn't feature for his national team Scotland in their 3-2 defeat against Poland in their first match of the UEFA Nations League.
Adams left the St. Mary's Stadium in this summer transfer window on a free transfer to join Torino in Serie A. In 40 appearances for the Saints last season, Adams scored 16 goals and became one of the most prolific strikers for Southampton after Danny Ings in recent seasons. Adams has played three league games for Torino and scored as well as assisted in Torino's 2-1 comeback win over Atalanta.

Therefore, there were rumours that Adams wants to adapt to his new team Torino and thus, has missed Scotland's first Nations League match. However, that is not the case and Scotland manager Steve Clark has revealed that the 28-year-old picked up an injury in the recent 1-0 win over Venezia. After the last minute 3-2 defeat against Poland, manager Steve Clark spoke about the reason for Adams absence, saying,
"Injury. The club informed us on Saturday morning that he’d picked up a knock in the game against Venezia.

The conversation we then have with Che is does he come across to be assessed and sent back to Italy. There was no point. So that’s why he misses out."
Therefore, Che Adams is recovering from his injury and will feature for Scotland in the next international break. Meanwhile, Scotland nearly completed an incredible comeback with goals from Scott McTominay and Billy Gilmour after being 2-0 down at half time. Moreover, Southampton are preparing for their next home fixture against Manchester United in the Premier League after the international break.
