Besiktas plot a transfer move for West Ham forward Niclas Fullkrug, which will end Paul Onuachu's Super Lig return hopes.

It's hardly been a week since Southampton heard the shocking Paul Onuachu update. One that read his former club Trabzonspor has decided to close the doors on the forward's Turkish return.

Well, for Onuachu, who has recently lost it all, be it his guaranteed lineup spot, his goal-scoring streak and his confidence, this was surely a massive blow.

After all, having been doubted by his club fans at Southampton, where else would he have enjoyed a move than his home return in Trabzonspor?

Yet, if that was harsh, Onuachu is next in line for an even bigger shock now. One arguably worse than the painful shift in roles he saw during the transition from Ivan Juric's era to Rusk at the Saints.

This is because, already betrayed by Trabzonspor, Onuachu's next probable suitors, Besiktas, have also decided to look past him. What's frustrating further? It's for another Premier League flop in West Ham's Niclas Fullkrug.

Niclas Fullkrug tipped to block Paul Onuachu's Turkish return

Recently, as quoted by Sport Witness, journalist Cagdas Sevinc confirmed this to Futbol Arena, saying: “I don’t think Onuachu is a very serious target for Besiktas. The names Weghorst and Füllkrug could be more prominent. Neither of them has a top level of goal-scoring, but they fit the definition of a central striker.”

Honestly, having already represented Trabzonspor, missing out on a move to their rivals, Besiktas, wouldn't have stung Onuachu. Yet, the way he has been downplayed compared to Fullkrug might affect him.

Not to forget, during his previous Super Lig spell, Onuachu, with 15 goals in just 21 games, was a menace for any opposition. And even despite struggling this season, he has had better numbers than Besiktas' top target, Fullkrug.

Yet, anyway, Paul Onuachu's hopes of a Super Lig return seem close to an end now. And the way it's ended is sure to leave a lasting impact on the forward who nears an uncertain future amidst his 30s.
