Southampton fans eagerly wait for the Concacaf Gold Cup Final to be over hoping to finalise Damion Downs' signing in a £6.9m worth deal.

Recently, Southampton fans realised Brereton Diaz's favoured case upon Shankland's transfer rejection and surely they won't be happy for it. But the Saints couldn't be blamed as they haven't had a single pleasant memory with him so far.

And while Diaz had an opportunity to make amends in the Championship promotion final, he floundered it, ultimately costing the Saints even more. Eventually, making it the last Final that Saints supporters closely followed.

But, interestingly, with over a month and a half since that Wembley defeat, Southampton has another Final checkmarked in their watchlist. And the brilliant part? No matter what the result, the Saints won't lose it this time.

It's the Concacaf Gold Cup Final between the USA and Mexico that every fan would be looking for their newly concluded signing Damion Downs.

Yes, Sky Sports recently confirmed that Southampton have Downs' deal past the breakthrough stage with FC Koln ready to command a £6.9m transfer fee for him.

Well, what that means is Southampton only needs to wait till the US' Concacaf Final to call Downs a Saint officially.

Saints fans eagerly await for Concacaf Final to see Downs

Honestly, it was not long ago that a fair share of Saints fans disapproved of Downs' signing, but now that it's done, hardly anyone would regret it.

That's because firstly the USMNT forward is arriving on a considerable discounted fee from his initial expected price. And him being only the club's second purchase in the transfer window, Downs would naturally excite the St. Mary's faithful.

What's further impressive is that with Downs being in brilliant form with the US, Saints fans can see a current star winning a Final in a long time.

To imagine, it can be a legendary ex-Saints coach Mauricio Pochettino handing a future superstar in Downs to current boss Still for a new era. The baton is being prepared to be handed on, let's hope Saints fans are in for a brilliant time next.
