Saints coach with 1 Premier League win still prides himself on £800k outcast

Nathan Jones belongs to the pool of Southampton bosses with only one Premier League win in their bag, but that doesn't discourage him from being proud of one flop transfer he oversaw.

Every Premier League coach wishes to scoop up each league win in sight, however the path to do so is always to pluck one victory after the other. Attaining this first three-pointer night sparks competition among world-class bosses of who does it the quickest.

But at St. Mary's, there is a full-fledged tussle between coaches who packed their bags with a solo Premier League victory to their name.

Russell Martin, Ivan Juric and Nathan Jones are some tacticians who fall in this shame-inviting list, and it's just proper that nobody can use the excuse of being deprived of a dedicated recruitment window.

In fact, the players they brought were one of the two, either flops or outcasts. Hence, the trio must have repented their squad reinforcement actions at Saints but Nathan Jones' case shows one can't assume it always.

Jones has no pride lost despite Bree's lacklustre Southampton journey

He was responsible for introducing £800k man James Bree on the South coast and he only took Bree away this summer. For a start, the latter was tipped to fail there at Charlton but he has allowed Nathan Jones to continue priding himself upon him.

In his own words, Daily Echo quoted Jones: "Bree's been doing that for me for years, so we know he's a good player. It's a great pick-out, it's a difficult chance because it's bouncing on the volley."

Simply said, players like Bree stepping up in away territories does no harm to Southampton but don't you think nearly every of Jones' Saints addition was a "second choice here, starter outside" type? After all, how can Saints fans not know the impressive levels Kamaldeen Sulemana and Paul Onuachu are operating in foreign environments.
