Southampton fans aren't wrong to re-imagine their Lawrence Shankland dreams after his recent update but one detail might affect their transfer morale.

As soon as the coming Monday, multiple players around the world will officially land in the free agents pool. And though they may be unsatisfied with their current club or the other way around, their market demand never stops soaring high and Southampton fans will also vouch in favour of these statements.

Now, I know a majority of them won't like to be a part of the twist-and-turns that comes with it but that's how the Lawrence Shankland case is. So, it's widely known that a bunch of teams are chasing the 29-year-old's signature but Shankland resisting a quick decision may also mean that he has never ruled out staying all this while.

However, according to the Daily Record, his club Hearts have grown tired of the Scot's tight lipped stance. Plus, the report mentions that they have opted to prepare for the preseason life without him.

Shankland hints at snubbing European top-flights

Just think about it, if they have come to terms with the fact that Shankland won't be a part of their immediate plans going forward, then, they might not bother proposing multiple renewal offers to him.

So, the bottom line is that Shankland has more than a foot outside Hearts and into the radar of the selected suitors who have paused their forward signings only for him.

But here enters the golden rule for Southampton fans to avoid excessive excitement as much as they can. The reason for this stems from a slight detail in the report which suggests that Shankland is spending the off-season in the Middle East.

Days ago, Kyle Walker-Peters also appeared to drop some Arsenal clues, so, Shankland moving there might be more than a vacation trip. Add to that the Saudi Arabian rumours and the bigger picture gets more clearer about Shankland's increasing preference to get a taste of non-European football.
