Manchester United fans had been eyeing yesterday's Monaco friendly for their legend but it ended up being a memorable evening for the Saints instead.

Since Luke Shaw teased his and Manchester United's biggest season objective, the Red Devils faithful has been both excited and doubted the former Saints wingback. But between all this, their team is looking clinical in preseason, so, they won't mind soaking in every bit of the season build up.

Parallel to that, they will be enthusiastic for watching Man United legend Paul Pogba take the field because their fanbase will also be cherishing nostalgia like the Saints. But Pogba's employers Monaco keep the ultimate say on his debut, and that didn't came yesterday as well.

Apart from the Frenchman, many of United fans will have no business watching Monaco and that's where it's all the more poetic. If anything, the Saints had real reasons to tune in thanks to one second half moment in particular.

But hardly anyone saw it coming, and even fewer were watching live.

Former Southampton stars were thrilled to meet each other

As noticed by Just Saints, a Southampton get together happened between Takumi Minamino, Che Adams and Mohammed Salisu. Agreed, the trio managed somewhere around fifteen minutes on the pitch but their reactions hid the fact that Southampton fans never saw them together since 2021.

Minamino was the first one to leave, then Salisu followed him two years later and Adams took on a different league last summer. Yet, all it took to reunite them was a Monaco Torino matchup.

Yet, Saints will crave for an Oriol Romeu-type link up where all of these names go meeting their old Southampton companions one by one. Lots of friendlies will be needed, and some club returns as well. Let's see how many Southampton manages to arrange in the future.
