Sky Sports man speaks brutal Rohl truth that proves Saints were right all along

Don Goodman has suggested that Danny Rohl's rigid clause is costing coaching opportunities to the German which may even force him into letting his contract run down there.

The first leg of the transfer window is about to be over soon, and it's wise to admit that it's been a manager dominated market. Every few days, there is a flurry of speculations and coaching hires going on, drawing some "did I read that correct" reactions from Southampton fans.

It seems that tacticians are the biggest winners all over Europe, isn't it? Well, not to disagree but former Saints target Danny Rohl still sticks out as a sore thumb in this trend.

Earlier, he closed the speculative doors about his Southampton return and is now made to pay for that while watching his transfer appeal going downhill. Now, I am not saying that the Saints should rue that missed reunion but nowadays, it feels weirdly unlucky as a fan.

Think about it, when the club was crying out for Rohl's signature, then they were scared off by multiple elite clubs wanting him. Now, when the Saints themselves have Will Still, then nobody is even pushing to secure the services of the German.

Saints were right to pull out from Rohl's transfer saga

In this puzzled situation, Sky Sports man Don Goodman has made an interesting point in front of Football League World: "The club is in a mess, but I keep harping back to it: this buy-out clause in Rohl's deal may be the thing that keeps him at Sheffield Wednesday, which would be very, very strange, because, clearly, he's not a head coach that wants to stay working for that owner."

Let's recall back a few months ago when Southampton fans received a £4m disappointment from the club's side. At that time, it made sense to question the board's long-term planning but now it appears as if the Saints decision makers were right all along to avoid paying that hefty transfer clause for Rohl.

Who knows, Southampton's managerial hunt might still be getting dragged until the transfer deadline day if not for that bold call.
