Will Still is closing to become new Southampton manager and could even be in attendance at St. Mary's for the final Arsenal home game.

Honestly, it was only yesterday when Southampton fans learnt about Will Still's scary West Ham preference. And truth be told, the Saints wouldn't have been surprised had they missed Still as the recruitment record at St. Mary's is getting worse as the seasons go by.

Despite all those previous failures in terms of managers, Southampton are about to finally get one move right, and it's indeed a big one. According to Sky Sports, the Will Still transfer to Southampton is pretty much on and even going stronger than the most optimistic Southampton fans would have expected.

The report suggested that Still may be a Saint within a matter of days and might even travel for the Arsenal game as well. Don't be too excited, that would be solely as a guest if it happens and not as a coach.

Will Still to relieve Simon Rusk of his temporary Southampton duties

Thus, the bottom line remains that Simon Rusk will oversee the Arsenal game in a way that many fans had previously hoped for. As a last farewell game and not as a preparation fixture to even lead the preseason training himself.

Amidst all these cheerful updates, Southampton fans must give due credit to Johannes Spors as well. Days ago, he promised to take some time in shortlisting available tacticians and didn't disappoint in the end.

So, now with Still almost secured, Southampton needs to ensure that he gets involved in the decision making process as soon as possible. Most likely, the Arsenal game will provide Still with a rough idea of his core players but regardless, the Englishman should take a deep glance at the squad's strengths.

After all, the talents of Ugochukwu and Manning took longer to get noticed in the present season and Southampton can't afford to be this lazy while making more of these calls.

Lastly, let's see how many current players will win Still's trust to get retained in the upcoming season.
