Southampton's Turkish allies Goztepe have scouted Paul Onuachu's previous teammate Abdulkadir Omur as an attacking reinforcement in the wake of Romulo's transfer updates.
Though Southampton never imagined establishing contacts with Goztepe for their former attacker Paul Onuachu, it's probably the only move where there Turkish allies will be happy to miss out. After all, they have a reliable source of goals in Romulo and it's only now, they have put the Brazilian forward as a transferable asset on the market.
Well, his new destination might lie anywhere among the European elites but one of the names to make-up for his Goztepe goals might be one of Paul Onuachu's old teammates.
According to a Yeni Asir report, that versatile forward is Abdulkadir Omur who was a squad player for Trabzonspor's senior team while Onuachu was freely scoring in the Turkish top-flight.
Omur must complete an Onuachu-inspired return to form
Now, that's not a word-of-mouth compliment for Goztepe to wrap up the signing because Omur's has flopped in English football more or less in the identical manner as Onuachu. Honestly, sharing the pitch together is every attacking duo's dream but mirroring each other's agony abroad is as nightmarish as it seems on the surface.
Onuachu's shortcomings are still afresh among the Southampton fanbase and like the 30-year-old's first two years at St. Mary's, Omur's terrible Hull City stay has also been equally goalless. Perhaps, Goztepe might be banking on the Turkish playmaker's international playing time to expect him to turn the English disappointment behind him like Onuachu did.
From Southampton's standpoint, they must not place heavy hopes on Omur taking rapid strides right from the commencement of next season because he was among the first players to be shown the temporary exit door by former Saints boss Ruben Selles.
That could be a good expectation ground for Goztepe too, but they mustn't bother too much if they can add a loan option in any potential transfer discussion.
