A lot of Southampton fans won’t have been blamed for taking the stance that the club re-signing goalkeeper Daniel Peretz this summer would be unlikely.

The Israeli goalkeeper spent the second half of the 2025/26 season on loan with the Saints, and massively impressed. His contributions were huge, and the side lost just two of 26 games the shot-stopper played in, to Hull City and Manchester City, who will both play in the Premier League next season.

The Saints will be hoping they themselves are next in line to play Premier League football, and with this latest transfer boost, they are already closing in on the signing of the summer.

Peretz is now set to extend his stay on the south coast of England.

Saints in advanced talks for Peretz

According to The Daily Echo, Southampton are in advanced talks to re-sign goalkeeper Daniel Peretz on a permanent deal.

The Saints are pushing to get the transfer done quickly, with Peretz keen to stay at St Mary’s and help the club get promoted to the Premier League despite interest elsewhere.

The club are hoping to complete the signing of Peretz ‘this week’ - an announcement is clearly in the making.

It’s a huge deal for Southampton. Peretz kept 7 clean sheets in 20 Championship games in the second half of the 2025/26 season. He bailed them out many a time, and looked far too good for the second tier.

It’s a signing that will be a huge PR boost for the club in its standing with the fans. Peretz giving Southampton and Tonda Eckert his vote of confidence is an outstanding coup.

Solak already keeping his promise

Club Chairman and main Sport Republic investor Dragan Solak told Southampton fans in a video statement following Spygate that he wanted to take the opportunity to reaffirm how “committed I am to bringing success to St Mary’s.”

Getting the signing of Daniel Peretz done, even with the 25-year-old having other options, is a huge statement of intent.

Solak further added, "I promise you that we'll bring to you at the end of the summer the team that will take you out of your seats and excitement will run high against St Mary's."

The signing of Peretz, which looks set to be completed in the coming days, will be a huge help. Southampton players who may have wanted to leave will see Peretz committing and think twice.

The Israeli has bought into Tonda Eckert. Now the club has to hope that the FA’s investigation allows them to keep the band together.
