Southampton could be in trouble against Derby if they ignore legend's advice

Southampton can be crippled into a crisis state against Derby County and the respective prevention measure is to pay attention to Francis Benali's one recommendation.

With a top-six place fight between Leicester City and Swansea, this ninth Championship round is aptly designed for Southampton to cruise into control. The Saints only need to assert their victory, that's it, and then get the ticket to sit in close company with other playoff dreamers.

All while Portsmouth and their ex-players keep marking their calendars in a hope of securing any win over Southampton.

See, the next weeks of October can be a great time for Saints on all fronts, but only if fatigues doesn't erase all the planned thrill. And second, the roster doesn't skip a winning wisdom from the legendary Francis Benali.

Benali insists Saints must bag the lead and Championship statistic also justifies it

In his Daily Echo column, the former wingback recommended: "Our two wins this season have come after falling behind in those games, so I think it's down to Will Still and the team now to make the first move."

Benali's words have left no merits for counter questioning. Plus, it's easily one of those statements that can decide whether the Saints faithful will doze off to a content nap post-match or will repent why Southampton didn't cared about Benali's suggestion.

The fearful deal is if Southampton didn't set the scoreboard going especially in the first half, then they are just falling into Derby County's second-half ploy. The home side could have ranked as good as sixth in the division had their post half-time heroics dictated their outings.

Absolutely, no need to check for Southampton because they will be fifteenth there too. Yet, if Benali's lesson to net early can be implemented then a Southampton win can be merely hours away, not days.
