Southampton defender sheds light on lowdown Tom Fellows will also relate

Southampton winger Tom Fellows and the in-form Nathan Wood were recruited from different clubs, but they share a common Saints transfer misery from the past.

As time has passed, Southampton fans hesitate even more before trusting any particular player but Nathan Wood truly held his ground against Swansea. Rest, the only positive adjectives for this winnable draw can come from those Saints who couldn't make it to the entire action.

On the stat sheets, it's Southampton's second scoreless result since the Portsmouth game. When you deep it that second-tier superstars like Tom Fellows made his first St. Mary's bow there, it feels offbeat that he hasn't bagged any goals till yet.

I'm not voicing, the 22-year-old winger flunked his efforts yesterday afternoon but his timing to unleash his first Southampton strike just keeps widening. Actually, it should have arrived a year ago and safe to say, in the Premier League.

Tom Fellows missed an early Southampton route like Nathan Wood

In 2024, the decision-making board did the bidding part from their end only to know their willingness would meet an empty end. Mostly these near misses are branded with the "good things need time" tag, but turning old and failed pages is never easy.

Before arriving in August, Fellows may potentially be admiring the greener top-flight grass lying in Southampton's field last year. As such, his centre-back teammate Nathan Wood's words will strike a relatable tune with him.

Shedding light on a year-long delayed Saints transfer, Wood was quoted by the Daily Echo: "I think it was tough, it was definitely tough not coming here the first time, and then that was followed up by injury, which was a tough period to bounce back from."

Fellows has a similar Southampton story as Wood's, and hence, the centre-back's return to first team stardom should be the comeback path for Fellows to abide by.
