Southampton have sold out their entire allocation of 33,350 tickets ahead of their semi-final with Pep Guardiola's high-flying Manchester City at Wembley next Saturday.

With many of the West Stand at Wembley being safe standing, the atmosphere on the 25 April will be electric and will give off vibes of BVB Dortmund's famous Yellow Wall.

Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund is famous for its 'yellow wall'. The iconic, 25,000-capacity standing South Terrace makes it Europe's largest terrace for standing spectators. It is famed for its intimidating atmosphere and 37-degree steep incline.

Southampton paints Cardiff yellow

The closest the Saints have come to recreating the yellow wall was when 25,000+ fans headed to Cardiff for the 2003 FA Cup final.

In yellow and blue, the Saints fans outsung the victorious Arsenal fans before going down 1-0 to a Robert Pires goal.

The atmosphere at the Millennium Stadium that day was made even more intense by the closed roof.

Now, Southampton have the opportunity to do even better as at least 33,350 fans make their way up the M3 to paint Wembley Stadium yellow. The club have been given special dispensation to wear their anniversary kit for the semi-final.

City struggling to sell out initial allocation

Manchester City are yet to sell out their allocation, with tickets on general sale available to Cityzens members and up to two others.

This is no great surprise, with City's Etihad Stadium often referred to as the Emptyhad by rival fans on account of City's persistent struggles to sell tickets despite the club's success over the last 13 years.

Coupled with the frequency with which City have played in major finals and semis at Wembley in recent years, Southampton might expect to receive an additional allocation of tickets before the weekend.

The South Coast club famously took 44,500 fans to Wembley for the Johnstone's Paint Trophy final in 2010 to see them defeat Carlisle United 4-1.

The Saints have worn yellow throughout their 2026 FA Cup run to commemorate their 1976 triumph at the old Wembley. The 50th-anniversary shirt was offered as a limited-edition item. It has become somewhat of a lucky colour as Southampton have seen off Doncaster, Leicester, Fulham, and Arsenal en route to Wembley.

While Southampton might struggle to win on the pitch against City next Saturday, there is no doubt who will make the most noise from the stands.

If the Saints can summon the spirit of '76 and take the unexpected scalp of another Manchester club at Wembley fifty years later, it will mark an incredible turnaround for the club.

Whatever the result, Southampton may create a yellow wall that could surpass anything found in the Bundesliga.
