Southampton fans will be shocked knowing who can sign Angus Gunn

Southampton's lucrative but underwhelming keeper addition, Angus Gunn may be lined up to join Shea Charles' former club Sheffield Wednesday.

The kickoff whistle in the Eastleigh game was met by initial and fragile evidence of an Aaron Ramsdale-less Southampton but it was nice to watch how Still's keeping vision looks like. The Englishman was adamant to point out the glowing positives from his later fielded unit, which had Gavin Bazunu in goal.

Firstly, fingers shouldn't be pointed at McCarthy for that goal and at the same time, his decade young counterpart preserved the fine work he had done behind the sticks prior to taking the field. Is it finally, third time's the charm for Bazunu to gain his gloves back and show his Portsmouth level capabilities at St. Mary's?

I know, a Pompeys example isn't good but the least can be done better when Bazunu has played his most consistent football there, to date.

Saints will wish Gunn strengthens Sheffield Wednesday

Still, if that's what inspires Bazunu to imitate Ramsdale's save-making actions then, it's best for Southampton who may otherwise have re-auditioned well-known club flop, Angus Gunn, too. Even then, Gunn won't be left without signing a summer contract elsewhere, and that is a club whom Saints fans loved to keep up with last season.

As pointed by Football League World, it's Sheffield Wednesday, and more specifically, the team where Shea Charles levelled up his midfield standing among the world-class names perfecting their art in the Championship. So, having Gunn go there will be a bonus thank you on Southampton's behalf to Wednesday's appreciable assistance in Charles' career.

Agreed, Gunn wasn't a name under contention at Wrexham but they wouldn't have been any confident of landing him if they had the 27-year-old on their radar. The reason being that his older Saints teammate Danny Ings also favoured a club lying higher above them in the second division pyramid.

Irrespective of that, let's hope that all of these ex-Saints smile back on their respective current decisions when they recall this summer window in the future.
