Southampton are weighing up Jack Rudoni as their potential third signing which should appeal fans because they can see a Mateus and Rudoni linkup in the middle of the park.

If the 2023 signings drive is the yardstick, then Southampton are tiptoeing into this summer buying period. Truly, a new eleven of players isn't around but finances were only checked twice that time as is the same currently.

A third signing then, is more faith than feasible. But Saints, there's a thing called ambition and once a club finds that readiness then they try to see the end of it.

Southampton have went sailing so far with the logic that Championship isn't a shopping venue, but how long they will resist certain transfer triumphs. Precisely, the Coventry City one where they nurtured second-tier's standout player Gustavo Hamer and possibly Premier League's future best Viktor Gyokeres.

While getting a Viktor Gyokeres of their own will set the Saints the unstoppable scoring way, even a Hamer-like valuable recruit can help Southampton upgrade and reap profits simultaneously.

At 28-years-old, the latter won't exceptionally improve each season but his Coventry replacement Jack Rudoni can surely.

Mateus and Rudoni can make life easier for Saints strikers

According to a report from The Sun, Southampton have stopped hiding behind their interest and have lodged an offer for the 24-year-old.

Well, the squad building perfectionists who look down upon the idea of multiple star players covering near-similar positions will think it as a waste of funds. But look it this way, three or more strikers are warming up for two-man striker duties at best.

Along the same lines, Mateus and Rudoni can co-exist in a midfield with a little bit formation restructuring. Yes, this will hinder their fifteen-plus individual goal contributions but in return, they can share workloads in twenty-five strikes or so, for Southampton.

The bottom line is, the Saints faithful must hope for a Mateus and Rudoni partnership, not feel sad for the former or anyone else's starter status being taken.
