Southampton fans will love this new signing even more after Le Tissier’s reveal

Southampton go into tomorrow's Championship clash with Bristol City overflowing with confidence on their own patch.

Tonda Eckert's free-flowing side are three wins from three at St. Mary's this season, with a convincing 11 goals scored along the way.

They are still searching for their first clean sheet of the season in the second tier, and with the Robins boasting the best away record in the entire division, Michael Skubala's team will head to the South Coast with a quiet confidence about them.

However, they will also know full well that they could be blown away by Southampton's attacking prowess, with Millwall and Swansea City shipping eight goals between them when they travelled to St. Mary's, despite both teams being near the top of the Championship and usually stern defensively.

Keven Schlotterbeck will be hopeful that their first clean sheet of the Championship season can come against the tricky visitors from Bristol, with the new signing fitting in instantly at the back, despite the lack of shutouts.

Schlotterbeck appears to be another masterstroke of a signing from Germany, with Leo Scienza becoming one of the most feared attackers in the Championship, after leaving Heidenheim behind, in one obvious glowing example.

The 29-year-old isn't a flashy presence like his Brazilian teammate, but he's an important part of the jigsaw all the same, as he's made the notable departure of Taylor Harwood-Bellis to Aston Villa sting a lot less, that's for sure.

He has started every Championship game possible to him since his arrival from Augsburg, and he hasn't put a foot wrong, really.

Indeed, he has a respectable 83% pass accuracy average per challenging second tier clash next to his name from five outings, which has then been matched by an ability to be physical and brave in such a demanding division, too, with an imperious 6.6 duels won on average.

He's even off the mark in front of goal, too, with an emphatic header finding the back of the net away at Birmingham City.

For only £3m, Southampton will be thanking their lucky stars that they didn't break the bank too lavishly, as they've seemingly won a perfect Harwood-Bellis successor on the cheap.

He is already loved by large sections of the Saints support, with one fan on social media - after the 3-1 Swansea win - simply noting that he is "class."

He will only go up in all their early estimations after Matt Le Tissier revealed what he had heard about the calm number 13 behind the scenes...

When the legendary Le Tissier is complimenting a Saints player, the entire St. Mary's fanbase stands to attention to hear what the living icon has to say.

The always entertaining forward - who scored a remarkable 195 times for the South Coast club across 520 games - has come out to reveal what he had heard Schlotterbeck apparently uttered when he first joined the ranks.

According to the 57-year-old icon, the dominant centre-back, when meeting one of the Southampton directors for the first time, allegedly opened with "Hi, I'm Keven, I'm here to win the league.'"

This will be further music to the ears of the St. Mary's masses, who have fallen head over heels already for the three-time Germany international, with Schlotterbeck not alone in aspiring to win the title, as Flynn Downes has also voiced his hunger to help Eckert and Co. be crowned champions.

If Schlotterbeck keeps up his sparkling early-season form, and the wins keep coming, a title could be forthcoming on the South Coast, but before anyone gets too carried away, they've got a tough test against Skubala and Co. to navigate tomorrow.
