Albert Gronbaek is close to a Genoa loan move coming on the back of a failed St. Mary's spell.
Days ago, Saints fans heard the recent Albert Gronbaek verdict, with Rennes willing to offer him a second spell. Well, a callback must excite the player, given his forgettable Saints spell, yet a return won't be easy for him at all.
Having flopped in consecutive spells at Rennes and Southampton, Gronbaek will have his head down on his way back to Roazhon Park. And who better than Saints to affirm this, who themselves will have Ben Brereton Diaz and Adam Armstrong back from failed loans soon?
Yet, thankfully, fate has been kind enough to remove some shame from Gronbaek's face. That's because a Top Flight club has shown interest in signing Gronbaek this summer.
It's Patrick Viera's Genoa again, who after benefitting Southampton in Sulemana's case, are en route to ease the Saints loanee's case too. The difference is just that unlike playing a helping hand in Sulemana's case, Genoa are going all the way for Albert Gronbaek's signing.
Genoa spell could get Gronbaek's confidence back on track
Recently, journalist Gianluca Di Marzio updated on Genoa's pursuit, suggesting the Italian side is on the verge of having Gronbaek on their books. As per him, the Serie A suit is in the final stages of agreeing with Rennes for a loan deal, similar to his recent Southampton one.
Well, should Gronbaek to Genoa happen, a loan spell with similar conditions as his last one may bring back fears. Yet, it may be the best decision for him going forward.
The reason being that the first one to initiate this St. Mary's to Italian football trend was Maxwel Cornet who exceeded expectations with a bunch of goal contributions there.
If the confidence-deprived winger could turn up good after a couple of subpar campaigns, then, the 23-year-old versatile midfielder has got every chance to be the next big thing there.
