Southampton put on lengthy transfer stand for striking non-negotiable move

Danny Rohl openly states that his heart is inclined towards a Premier League opportunity, which may mean a lengthy transfer wait for Southampton.

Tell me, Southampton fans, hasn't this ongoing season felt like a loop of 'Oh, what could be worse than this' reactions all the time? Still, only to be more disappointed the next day.

And here we are, witnessing one such week again. Intriguingly, as if seeing club icon Matt Le Tissier in a Portsmouth shirt wasn't enough, within days of a 0-2 humiliation at the hands of a struggling Leicester, Southampton fans are to endure one of the biggest season shocks now.

This is because the Saints feel close to losing on their most sought-after managerial target, Danny Rohl, at least this summer.

And what's the frustrating part? Unlike what might be thought of as a limitation on Southampton's part, it's Rohl's desire not to sign up for a St. Mary's return.

No, the German manager hasn't confronted his Saints links straightaway, but Rohl seems eager for a Top Flight opportunity to leave Sheffield this summer.

Rohl shuts down hopes of a Southampton return for Top Flight desire

Recently, confessing to the Daily Echo, Rohl admitted: “I always want to work with the best players and compete with the best coaches. I grew up with the Bundesliga, but the Premier League is also a dream. I’m currently very excited to see what happens this summer."

Now, not to demoralise the St. Mary's faithful, but given Don Goodman's warning and their reality, Southampton seems to be put on a long transfer wait to ever work with Rohl again.

And like so, even if coincidentally, club icon Francis Benali's Danny Rohl verdict seems to be proving true, as the Saints will have to look for other options in Will Still or David Wagner now.

Well, for Benali, who worked wonders for Southampton during his playing time, hopefully, the pundit's wish for not wanting Rohl ends up in the club's favour. Maybe it's all building up for an even better Saints future overall.
