Mateus Fernandes continued his brilliant playmaking form against Stoke City as well, with a perfect pass towards Taylor Harwood-Bellis from the corner on the opening Southampton goal. Fernandes provides more pace and athleticism to Russell Martin's side while playing on the left side of the midfield and now the 20-year-old is improving his long through-balls to give a lot of assists as well.
Fernandes would again aim to register another goal contribution in the Premier League and the home side will rely on him to play a key role again in the Everton match. Joe Aribo found the back of the net against Leicester City but was dropped for the Manchester City match to bring the experienced Adam Lallana in the midfield.
Recently, Aribo gave a good performance against Stoke City as a box-to-box midfielder and will again play in his ball-possession winning role against Everton. Manager Russell Martin dropped Flynn Downes from the Stoke City game to avoid him picking up another yellow-card to become unavailable for the Everton match.
Downes has been one of the most consistent players for the Saints in the ongoing season, and should improve his passing inside the Southampton half to advance the ball forward to create more goalscoring chances for the home side.
