Defence
At the beginning of the season, defensive mistakes were a huge issue for Russell Martin's side as was evident in the 3-1 defeat against Brentford. Although Southampton have conceded three goals on three occasions after that match, they now seem to have finally found their best defensive lineup.
Taylor Harwood-Bellis and Jan Bednarek gave a rock-solid first half performance against Arsenal, and will once again look forward to form a reliable centre-back partnership against Leicester City. Moreover, captain Jack Stephens is unavailable for this match due to his red card against Manchester United, and thus, Kyle Walker-Peters should again play as a third central defender.
The 27-year-old possesses impressive recovery pace and his defending ability is an invaluable asset for the Saints, given their goalscoring struggles in the new season. Ryan Manning formed a great duo with Walker-Peters on the left side of the defence, and Martin should give the fullback another start against Leicester City's world-class wingers.
Despite a misplaced pass on the third goal against Arsenal, Yukinari Sugawara should be again given the right-back role due to his decent passing and tackling abilities. Further, Sugawara can advance the ball forward down the right flank to create more spaces for Tyler Dibling, who can create a lot of goalscoring opportunities for Southampton.
