Southampton fans will be admiring Coventry City's league domination. Saints can also repeat their heroics if they carefully go through Dan Harding's stunning claim.

Clocking up a seventh Championship spot during mid May is hands down the heaviest feeling a second division club can weigh in. All hard work feels gone to waste, likewise, an early "season is over" notion crawls in while glimpsing a seventeenth place standing when the race is only in its first few months.

I know Saints fanbase will request not to be disturbed with the 17th place noises, but listen there is an inspiring side to it. Coventry City are the present division leaders and promotion must fairly be on their lips, still, one year ago they were stranded in the same place as Saints.

The why it appears intriguing is because Coventry added new wings to their promotion objective and kept flying till the knockouts.

Saints began half-similar to Coventry but must apply strong finishing touches

Didn't mention Coventry explicitly but former defensive general Dan Harding has pinged this same message to Southampton's roster.

The Daily Echo captured Harding's viewpoint on BBC Radio Solent: "There have been teams towards the bottom at Christmas who manage to claw themselves up the league with a bit of momentum. If I were in that changing room, I would not be ruling out automatic promotion yet."

Exactly, Still and the team are equipped with 37 more fixtures in which thirty wins can see them topple Coventry. And the intent wasn't to look at Portsmouth but their Middlesbrough surprise must tune the standards where Saints plotting an overtake on the Sky Blues mustn't feel out of the box.

On a related note, Coventry's mainstays had to rehearse under two coaches, Southampton's star names have marched into action with only Will Still. If it's only one boss for the current Saints camp, good but let's not get overconfident on it.
