Steven Gerrard has made Will Still's Southampton life easier and barring any unpredictable twists, Still can be sure of holding his Saints responsibilities.

Sundays don't wind up without forcing matchday headaches onto Will Still, but this weekend is unloading as an odd one. Recently, the James Bree news must have flown through his ears and what positive update to announce to a gaffer than one of his less preferred players settling well outside.

Much said about Bree, if Still pulls up a true mirror upon him, then he will admit his managerial popularity is also falling down the graph. There are a number of candidates lurking near Still's throne but Danny Röhl poses the biggest question mark on the 32-year-old's Championship continuity at St. Mary's.

For the determination Still has oozed in the building, watching his entire plans shelved for possibly Röhl's would be a crushing blow.

However, luck favours the determined and Steven Gerrard has gifted a Southampton lifeline to Still in a full U-turn manner.

Gerrard's polite no almost guarantees Still's role at St. Mary's

In the words of Sky Sports: "Steven Gerrard will not return as Rangers head coach after he removed himself from the process to become Russell Martin's successor."

According to FBref stats, Still has never experienced own goals dropping a favour for Southampton's goalscoring, well the Englishman must acknowledge this as one that will keep his tactical seat more glued to him. All that remains is Röhl accepting the Scottish outfit's vacancy as his successive rejection after Gerrard's will drag Still back to block one.

If the former Saints number two gives his green flag, then Southampton fans can see the mirror for all Röhl masterstrokes they have held in their imagination.

After all, Still never flopped in his prior projects and thus, one can't expect Röhl to outperform and overdeliver in every club's colours.
