Southampton fans will be keeping an eye out on how their beloved Saints personnel have been doing over the international break, playing for their wide array of nations.

For Finn Azaz, Ryan Manning, and Shea Charles, the break has now cruelly been short, as both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland have been dumped out of the World Cup playoffs at the first hurdle.

For other Saints players featuring away from St Mary's, it looks as if it will - thankfully - be more of a calming reintroduction to international life, with brand-new Southampton striker Cyle Larin featuring for Canada in a friendly clash versus Iceland.

Daniel Peretz wasn't thrown into the deep end of competitive action with Israel, either, with the Bayern Munich loanee collecting his 11th cap for his nation against Georgia, in another friendly showdown.

This was Peretz's first call-up to his national team since last October, with his inspired form for the Saints, as of late, no doubt helping to push him back into the fold.

Indeed, he has kept an incredible seven clean sheets from only 15 appearances, since swapping Bavaria for England in January, with the number 41 instantly slotting in as Eckert's clear number one goalkeeper.

Therefore, he would have been over the moon to be selected for Israel's clash with Georgia, as he was thrown in from the start for their friendly clash.

However, it would prove to be a rather puzzling occasion for the 11-time international.

Peretz's puzzling evening for Israel

Not much can be read into the 2-2 draw, as it was a friendly match, after all.

But, it was rather puzzling to see Peretz be subbed off at the half-time mark, with his last friendly outing for his nation back in 2022, against Cyprus, seeing him last the full 90 minutes.

Clearly, Ran Ben Shimon wanted to see what his back-up option in Omri Glazer could do during the second half of the contest, with Peretz unable to walk away from his 45 minutes with a convincing shut-out under his belt.

In all fairness, he did concede to Paris Saint-Germain superstar Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who also beat Glazer in an action-packed second half, as the affair ended as a goal-filled 2-2 draw.

So, Ben Shimon won't be judging him too harshly, with Peretz surely a shoo-in for a spot inside his Nations League side if he can keep up his heroics for the Saints.

Helping Southampton to promotion would definitely firm up his presence as a regular, with only two goals leaked across Eckert and Co. last's four games, showing off a 'keeper that was born to perform under pressure.

He won't be fearful of any last-minute alterations at St. Mary's that's for sure, with the 25-year-old even speaking of his desire to put pen to paper on a permanent move to the South Coast.

The only way is up for Peretz, with the 45-minute taste of international action he was gifted, making him want more in the future.
