Amazingly, despite now going unbeaten across 16 games in the Championship, to place themselves firmly in the automatic promotion reckoning, zero Southampton players would make the EFL's Team of the Season at the EFL awards.
Southampton aren't strangers to snubs when it comes to these awards, with Tonda Eckert somehow not present in the Manager of the Year category, despite spearheading the South Coast side's miraculous turnaround from lifeless fodder to the entertainers of the division.
Moreover, there was no place for the likes of Leo Scienza in either the Team of the Season, nor the Player of the Season nominations, despite the sensational number 13 taking to the Championship this campaign - during his debut season no less - like a duck to water.
Scienza should feel angered that he has been snubbed
Scienza has been a revelation this season, as he was plucked from obscurity at Heidenheim in the summer and launched straight into the deep end of the Championship.
He, thankfully, learned to swim pretty quick, with the tricky Brazilian now up to seven goals and ten assists from 34 Championship clashes, at the time of writing.
In the overall team of the season, Sorba Thomas was preferred down the left flank, which is a fair shout, considering he has ten goals and 12 assists for Stoke City, who have fallen off the promotion pack.
But, the Welshman is a seasoned Championship pro, having previously called Huddersfield Town home, with Scienza's blistering numbers, for a newbie, arguably more impressive.
The complete lack of Southampton players present would have seriously irked those of a St. Mary's persuasion, considering Finn Azaz has an electric 11 goals and nine assists for the season, as one of the division's liveliest forward players.
In defence, too, there's an argument to be had that Ryan Manning should have been included, as the long-standing Saints servant is having a very impressive individual campaign that continues to slip under the radar.
Manning has a fair argument to be included
In the left-back spot, instead, the EFL selected Swansea City's Josh Tymon, who has just been on the recieving end of a 2-1 loss, at the hands of Eckert and Co.
With one goal and ten assists next to his name, for Vitor Mato's mid-table dwellers, this is an arguably fair pick, but Manning certainly has a compelling argument to put forward, as to why he should've been dropped in at the left-back spot, instead.
When looking at the FotMob ratings over the season to date, Manning is the third-highest rated player in the entire division, coming in at a sparkling 7.43. Tymon's average is high, but is lower, coming in at 7.12.

While the Hull-born defender has also been an assist dynamo for the Swans, Manning does better him here, as well, when looking at his overall goal contributions, with a stunning seven goals and five assists picked up in all competitions.
It really has been an outrageous solo season for the Irishman, who had to pick himself up in the off-season, having been put through the miserable wringer of relegation.
Now, he looks like a man possessed for Eckert's side, with a goal even put away against Blackburn Rovers earlier this month, with another promotion on his CV potentially to come, which will surely make this snub easier to stomach.
