If the surname Edozie isn't sending shivers down the spine of every Arsenal fan reading this, it really should be.
Arsenal travel to St Mary's on Saturday for an eight o'clock evening kick-off in the FA Cup quarter-final against Southampton, on the back of a Carabao Cup final defeat and with a depleted squad.
Southampton, on the other hand, are riding on the crest of a wave. The Saints are 14 matches unbeaten, including victories at Premier League Fulham and Championship league leaders Coventry City.
Saints will be massive underdogs
Heading into Saturday's quarter-final, Tonda Eckert's Southampton team will be massive underdogs. The Gunners are nine points clear at the top of the Premier League with just seven games left to play, and they are cruising in the Champions League.
The FA Cup won't necessarily be at the top of Mikel Arteta's trophy wishlist, with bigger trophies within his team's grasp this season. However, losing to a Championship team in the quarter-finals may do more harm than good to a club with an historically soft underbelly.
Not for the first time in recent seasons, Arsenal have struggled against the Premier League's bottom teams. Draws away at Nottingham Forest and Wolverhampton Wanderers don't seem to have hit their title ambitions too hard, but have sown a seed of doubt in a squad beset with injuries.
In total, fourteen players pulled out of international duty in March, and Arteta is unlikely to take any fitness risks against Southampton.
An unlikely family double
Southampton's Samuel Edozie will hope to complete an unlikely family double if he is selected on Saturday. In mid-February, Edozie's younger brother Tom rescued a point for Wolves against Arsenal in the Premier League with a late goal.
Coming on as a late substitute, Edozie entered the fray with Wolves 2-0 down at Molineux.
“Playing football as a kid, you dream of things like this,” a jubilant Edozie told Sky Sports after the match. “I’m just so thankful to Rob (Edwards, the Wolves head coach) for even putting me on the pitch in the first place. Hopefully it is my goal, but, yeah, it’s just a dream come true.”
On Saturday, Tom's older brother Sam will endeavour to go one better than his brother and knock Arsenal out of the FA Cup.
If Edozie scores on Saturday, it would complete an unlikely double with two brothers scoring against the same team for two different clubs in the same season.
Now, that would be a great sporting trivia question in the future!
