The three Southampton stars who were unsung heroes against Bristol City

Southampton's 4-1 win over Bristol City on Saturday was yet another showcase of the Saints' incredible attacking potency.

Cyle Larin is now up to a ridiculous seven goals from seven Championship games for the season, after smashing home a brace, while Finn Azaz collected a goal and two assists for himself, as a hard to contain number ten dynamo, behind the clinical Canadian.

Yet, it was a team effort overall that allowed the three points to be clinched, even if Larin and Azaz gained most of the acclaim - and rightly so - when the full-time whistle was sounded.

Several Saints stars slipped under the radar, with these three aces sticking out as unsung heroes for Tonda Eckert's hosts as a fourth Championship victory of the season was resoundingly secured.

Daniel Peretz

While the final scoreline coming in at 4-1 suggested that Southampton had it all their own way across the 90 minutes, Daniel Peretz still had to be alert throughout to ensure the likes of Scott Twine for the away team were kept quiet.

There have been question marks about Peretz this season, as he has been wobbly in flashes, with zero clean sheets next to his name in Championship action.

He was so close, yet so far, from collecting his first shutout of the season, as Lorent Tolaj scored a consolation effort late on for the away team, but the ex-Bayern Munich stopper still pulled off a timely four saves, to ensure Michael Skubala's men only scored the one effort at St. Mary's.

Come the end of the high octane affair, Peretz had denied 1.32 goals courtesy of his agile display.

Hopefully, he can collect that elusive clean sheet away at Wrexham, just before the international break kicks in.

Keven Schlotterbeck

Alongside Peretz keeping the Robins attackers at bay, Keven Schlotterbeck put in another confident and polished display at the back to restrict the away team.

Schlotterbeck has been a permanent fixture in the starting XI since his late summer arrival from Augsburg, and the three-time Germany international is unlikely to be removed from Eckert's first-team fold anytime soon.

Indeed, against the visitors from Bristol, he would only misplace eight of his 77 passes out from the back, as he continues to take to the pressures of the Championship like a duck to water.

But, it was his defensive doggedness that also shone through during the 4-1 win, as his "standout moment" - as the Daily Echo's Alfie House labelled it in his post-match thoughts - was when he in the right place at the right time to clear a goalbound effort off the line.

Southampton fans would have been dejected when the news filtered through that Taylor Harwood-Bellis would be packing his bags for Aston Villa, but for £3m, they've found a more than capable successor to the Englishman's throne.

An honourable shoutout to his centre-back partner for the day in Nathan Wood also feels appropriate, as the ex-Swansea City titan won six tackles and duels to firm up the back four even more.

Divin Mubama

Lastly, Divin Mubama deserves an acknowledgment, too, as several Saints fans had been left underwhelmed by the Manchester City loanee's recent substitute cameos.

During Saturday's contest, however, he made a difference, with Finn Azaz's late goal on the 85th minute mark assisted by the exciting youngster.

He had only been on the pitch seven minutes when he turned provider, as he now has two goal contributions next to his name for his new loan club in the Championship, from only 123 minutes.

Mubama's league numbers for Southampton:

When legs tire, Mubama sticks out as a great option to call upon from the bench, as his energy should catch fatigued teams cold.

He certainly knows how to battle, as well, as he kept his cool under the challenge of a Bristol shirt, before teeing up Azaz to slot home.

Of course, he is only 21 years of age and still learning, so his performances can be inconsistent, but he more than warranted Eckert's decision to bring him into the game on the weekend, with his 85th minute assist.
