Shea Charles looks as if he's finally on the move this summer.
Indeed, it's been spoken about all transfer window long as to whether Charles would be a poached by a Premier League club or not, and it appears as if Fulham will be the next club he calls home, with the Cottagers set to win his services for around the £25m mark.
This is a blow, but the central midfield ranks are full to the brim with talent at St. Mary's, even if the Northern Irishman were to depart.
Tonda Eckert has Flynn Downes he can depend upon centrally, with Downes a seasoned performer at the tiring level, having previously won promotion with the Saints up to the Premier League under Russell Martin.
He certainly has a bit between his teeth this off-season when talking about the Saints' promotion chances, with the one-time West Ham United engine wanting to hold the Championship title aloft.
Alongside Downes, the German also has Caspar Jander he can fall back on in the middle of the park, with Jander catching the eye in glimpses last season for his energetic and classy displays.
He hasn't just caught the eye among his Championship peers, though, as he has also an admirer forming in a very well-known manager...
Jander's high profile admirer
As per Sky Sports Germany, Jurgen Klopp is apparently a fan of the promising German, with the ex-Liverpool manager now the main boss of Die Mannschaft.
It is even being reported that Klopp has the Münster-born battler on his radar when it comes to national team call-ups, with the Saints number eight not looking out of place whatsoever in the hustle and bustle of the Championship last season, during his debut campaign.
Formerly on the books of 1. FC Nürnberg, Southampton supporters will be hoping that Jander sticks it out long-term on the South Coast, despite Sky Sports Germany also reporting that several Bundesliga clubs are keen on the highly-rated 23-year-old.
You would imagine, though, that Jander is not for sale, with the three-time Germany U21 international leaving, alongside Charles, a disastrous chain of events.
He won't be for sale
Jander likely won't have his head turned by a return to his homeland, either, as his minutes should only increase this forthcoming season under Eckert, with Charles no longer around.
With an 89% pass accuracy average last season, and a courageous 5.6 duels won on average, the well-rounded number eight should make the exit of ex-Manchester City youngster far easier to stomach.
Of course, money does talk, so if a Bundesliga club were to cough up a mighty offer for Jander, there could be a possiblity that both the 6-foot gem and Charles exit within the same hectic window.
It would have to be a sizeable bid, with Southampton only winning Jander last summer for a hefty £10.4m.
Hopefully, he sticks it out, with a promotion on his CV up to the Premier League doing his senior chances under Klopp for Germany no harm whatsoever.
It's not just Klopp who is a big fan, with Eckert - who also hails from Deutschland - labelling his Bundesliga-linked star as "exceptionally good" for his performances towards the latter stages of last season.
Now, with the brand-new campaign just around the corner, it's time for him to live up to all this hype, with a senior Germany cap possibly in the works if all goes to plan.
