Tottenham makes Southampton look stupid for ignoring David Prutton's wise words

Ex-Saints hero David Prutton's words prove true as Tottenham's £115m transfer activity for Mohammed Kudus and Gibbs-White hints that they won't pay any outrageous sum for Tyler Dibling.

Recently, boss Will Still presented his Dibling saga verdict but instead of serving its purpose, it has led fans to compare this to Simon Rusk's management. For the majority of supporters, it has them fearing Dibling's exit but to some, recalling Rusk's tenure comes with a regret in face.

Well, that's because throughout the second half of the season, Southampton had a brilliant opportunity to cash in a significant amount for Dibling in a Tottenham move. But they let it go, being rigid with their £100m ask for him.

Fast forward to now, the Saints face the harsh reality as they know Tottenham were never going to heed their demand at any instant.

That's because of the Spurs' recent transfer purchases that have seen them spending a net total of £115m for 2 Premier League superstars, acting far from Southampton's £100m valuation for Dibling alone.

Transfer Expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed Tottenham's transfer activity details, quoting: "After Mohammed Kudus, Tottenham complete Morgan Gibbs-White deal today. £115m total package invested in 24h as release clause for Gibbs-White has been triggered."

Saints fans look back at Prutton's words for unresolved Dibling saga

Honestly, looking back, no Saints fan can deny it's been an opportunity missed. Yet, what will frustrate them further is realising how Southampton didn't turn to their ex-hero's words which have been proven true now.

He's heroic Saint midfielder and now a pundit, David Prutton.

If you remember, Prutton had long ago confronted Southampton's Dibling price tag, calling it unwise given the market standards. And his words have now had the ultimate laugh as the Saints have only themselves to blame for not listening to him.

Still, not to discredit Tottenham's persistent interest in Dibling who had the Saints buy into making an over-the-moon demand for the teenager's exit.

Well, after KWP's failed return rumours, now it's been Spurs 2-0 Saints in this summer window. Let's hope we aren't in for another blow from the Europa winners anytime soon.
