Tyler Dibling has been nominated for the Golden Boy 2025 award but must avoid following Southampton's previous award nominee Michael Obafemi's career.

Like it or not, but Tyler Dibling's recent Matt Le Tissier mistake must've upset all Southampton fans. After all, for the legend synonymous with the club's legacy, the teenager dropping his name from his all-time picks is certainly a blunder.

Yet, truth be told, while all supporters may be annoyed with him, no fan can turn their backs on the 19-year-old. Especially, when after months of challenges, Dibling is en route to discovering his potential again.

Days ago, the teenager's transfer rumours resurged with Everton joining his transfer race. But this time, Dibling's achievement is far more worthy of celebration for Southampton fans.

It's official, Tyler Dibling has made it to the 100-name shortlist for the Golden Boy 2025 award.

As per the Daily Echo, Dibling is one of the 8 English prodigies nominated for the prestigious award, alongside superstar talents like Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsi.

Honestly, being named among the elite European youngsters is a massive moment for Dibling. But while it marks a significant step in his fresh career, this comes with a huge challenge for him.

That's because the last time Southampton had an up-and-rising forward talent nominated for this award, it turned out to be a setback for him.

Tyler Dibling must avoid former Saint Michael Obafemi's trajectory

We talk of former talented Saint, Michael Obafemi. Having even better numbers than Dibling in his debut senior season, Obafemi had made it to the shortlist for the Golden Boy 2020 award.

But his first notable achievement soon turned out to be his last one. The very next season, Obafemi lost his momentum completely. What followed was some successive loan spells and now the 24-year-old is suffering in the Championship.

Clearly, Obafemi's case must be a caution alarm for Dibling, whom Saints fans consider a generational talent. Though having been impressive this season, the English talent must better his numbers to remain in the spotlight ahead.

Still, that's associated with when and where he plays next season. Will he be it at Southampton, let's see.
