According to reports in Turkey, an unhappy Southampton striker might push for a move in January. His former club are showing interest in re-signing him.

Paul Onuachu arrived at Southampton in 2023. The striker had made a name for himself in Europe already, impressing in the Danish Superliga and the Belgian Pro League.

Signed from Genk, big things were expected from Onuachu. However, it is fair to say that he hasn't lived up to those expectations by any stretch of the imagination.

Having only made 15 league appearances for the Saints, he is yet to find the goal-scoring form he showed at his previous clubs. In fact, he hasn't scored a single league goal for Southampton.

So, he is growing unhappy.

According to a report from Turkish outlet Karadeniz Gazete, Paul Onuachu is growing more and more unhappy at Southampton. So much so, he could push for a move away in the new year. His former club Trabzonspor, where he spent last season on loan, are interested in signing him.

In fact, head coach Şenol Güneş is eager to bring Onuachu back to Turkey. He has already instructed the club to get to work on proposing a new deal for Onuachu.

Trabzonspor wanted to make the deal for Onuachu permanent in the summer transfer window just gone. However, they struggled to meet Southampton's asking price.

Given that Onuachu is only under contract at the St Marys Stadium until 2026, the Turkish side hope to get a reduced rate for the Nigerian striker.

Unfortunately, this has been a common tale for the Saints throughout history. To avoid history repeating itself, the best thing to do is for Southampton to sell Onuachu.

Even if the price isn't what Southampton would like, they are in no position to be stubborn. They either sell him for a reduced fee or see him deterioriate until his contract expires, only to lose him for free.

I know which option sounds more attractive to me.
