Will Still’s Arrival Could Finally Unlock £10m Southampton flop Ross Stewart

Southampton fan pundit Martin Sanders believes Ross Stewart could emerge as a key Championship goalscorer under Will Still.

Admit it or not, but Southampton's biggest search out in the summer window must be a prolific goal scorer. And thankfully, their recently touted options like Lawrence Shankland confirm this.

Well, investing in a department where Southampton struggled throughout this season feels logical, yet needless, too.

That's because if worked, they can have their headache solved for free with a similar profile already present in Ross Stewart.

Admitted that Stewart's matchday involvements haven't worked well in Southampton's favour under Simon Rusk recently. Still, that could change for the better, given recent St. Mary's developments.

Since yesterday, it's been a carnival for Saints fans, as their dream target, Will Still, will be announced as the head coach soon. And rightly so, as for the St. Mary's faithful, Still feels tailor-made to address Southampton’s ongoing problems, including the Ross Stewart dilemma.

Now, tipped to meet fan expectations, it will take significant work from Still to recover Stewart's best form. Yet, it is one job where the manager's success is guaranteed. At least, that's what fan pundit Martin Sanders believes.

Ross Stewart tipped to put his best Southampton numbers next season

Recently, speaking to Football League World, Sanders exclaimed Stewart to be the biggest winner from Still's appointment, saying: "I think with Will Still as the manager, and getting crosses into the box, I think he could get a lot of goals next year. I think he's really, really important."

This claim must remind Saints fans of Stewart's nonchalant claim, denying the need for drastic changes to improve. But unlike that, this Sanders' statement is much more than just optimisim.

With Will Still known to rely on a strong cross-and-score game, Stewart can really bag a ton of goals this Championship season. The same is true for his teammate Paul Onuachu, whose stay can be finally blessed with Still's appointment.

Now, whether Ross Stewart leads the attack next season or Paul Onuachu does, Southampton's scoring issue is certain to improve under Will Still. Let's hope, the Saints scoring streak turns up better than it was in Championship last time.
