Will Still handed tough choice among proven starter and dream summer target

Will Still must be prepared to give his verdict on favouring either of Harwood-Bellis or Juma Bah as Southampton are tipped to have a hard time gaining the services of both of them for the Championship.

On the weekend, Southampton fans were excited to explore a dream centre-back pairing. Assuming a three at the back formation, a Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Ronnie Edwards and Juma Bah trio felt a perfect mix of youth and experience in the starting lineup.

Plus, having a backup unit of Jack Stephens, Jan Bednarek, and Joshua Quarshie or at least, two of them should be more than enough to see off the Championship competition. So far, well and good but among these names, Juma Bah isn't a Saint just yet which is where this scenario stops remaining ideal.

Now, many fans might guess that the complex part lies in signing him but there is a big transfer hurdle elsewhere. As quoted by EFL Analysis, journalist Graeme Bailey revealed the complications saying: "Bah may well be their Taylor Harwood-Bellis replacement. The thing is, though, they may have to wait until Harwood-Bellis leaves, if he does leave, that is."

Still's first Southampton decision could shape defensive foundation

Without a doubt, Harwood-Bellis has donned Manchester City's kit before but the fears aren't about any swap deal. Rather, the 23-year-old might be yet to frame either a transferable asset or a non-negotiable image in Will Still's mind.

Had Harwood-Bellis been not as unavailable in the second half of the season, he would have been on his way out of St. Mary's. But now, some of his Premier League admirers can be apprehensive about taking him and thus, the exit decision may come in the hands of Will Still.

Will he side with nailed-on Southampton starter Harwood-Bellis or favour the arrival of his appreciable target Bah, only time will tell.
