Some people seem to have it twisted. Will Still hasn't fallen out with Jack Stephens, and he's just made that abundantly clear publicly.
Southampton got back to winning ways in midweek, with a pretty impressive result over Chris Wilder's Sheffield United. It was a game that the Saints really should have won, given how poor the Blades have been this season, but they can only beat what's in front of them.
And nobody can deny that Southampton needed that result. Under Will Still, it's not been a great Southampton start to the campaign. If they kept any hopes alive of being promoted back to the Championship, then a win was more than necessary.
However, it wasn't the main talking point to come out of the match. Southampton captain Jack Stephens was not involved in the squad, leaving many to come up with their own conspiracy theories.
Will Still makes his stance on Jack Stephens crystal clear
On that, Will Still has completely rubbished those rumors before they could even escalate. According to the Daily Echo, Stephens' omission from the squad was entirely related to injury, and Will Still loves Jack Stephens.
In his own words, Still said: "He blocked a shot yesterday in training, twisted his ankle, and it's blown up. That was an annoying one. Annoying for him and for us, but it's nothing more. People think we've fallen out? No, he's here, I love Stevo, he's fine."
And that's exactly what Southampton fans needed to hear. All week, the chatter among the Championship fanbase is of which mystery club is in turmoil behind closed doors.
It's hard to believe that would ever be Southampton, it would be quite impressive if Will Still had lost the dressing room this early.
Thankfully, it isn't Southampton. The relationship between Stephens and his manager Will Still is healthy, and that will naturally transcend throughout the Southampton dressing room.
Of course, Stephens' injury is not welcome news, but it's much better than his squad omission being due to a fallout.
Now, Stephens is anticipated to miss the next Championship match against Derby County at Pride Park.
