Midfielders

Centre-midfielder. Southampton. ORIOL ROMEU. 8. Romeu had the best game of any Southampton midfielder in my opinion, with his long-range effort not far off target. He bossed proceedings in the middle of the park and did well to limit City’s attacks.

6.5. Pierre Hojbjerg produced a stereotypical Hojbjerg performance yesterday – he ran tirelessly and showed the kind of passion that has made him a fan-favourite. Naturally with City having such a strong midfield his involvement was limited.. Centre-midfielder. Southampton. PIERRE-EMILE HOJBJERG

5.5. Nathan Redmond had a really quiet afternoon managing just 11 passes and 23 touches of the ball before being substituted on the hour mark. Not a reflection of his recent performances but not entirely his fault.. Wide-midfielder. Southampton. NATHAN REDMOND

Wide-midfielder. Southampton. DUSAN TADIC. 6.5. Tadic was much more involved that his opposite winger and played the duration – had a great chance to score for the Saints when we rounded Bravo three times in order to get it onto his left. Would’ve given him a seven had he not got into his pants for the lap of honour.
