Southampton: Saints weighing up bids for Aston Villa duo?
By Marc Walker
Southampton are reportedly considering bids for Aston Villa youngsters Keinan Davis and Andre Green.
According to the Daily Mail, the Southampton board are plotting offers of between £3m and £4m for the duo who progressed through the academy ranks at Villa.
Both players have made their first-team debuts in the Championship in the past two seasons after the club’s relegation from the Premier League and provided some bright moments at Villa Park.
Davis is more naturally a striker whilst Green is a winger by trade, but both players have also shown their ability to play across the front line.
An offer from the Saints could be welcomed by Villa with the club actively looking to cut costs after two expensive pushes for promotion back to the top-flight.

20-year-old Davis was able to participate in more first-team games in 2017/18 with 30 appearances in league and cup. He also chipped in with three goals and four assists.
Green began the season as a regular in Steve Bruce’s team too, but a hamstring injury hampered much of the 19-year-old’s campaign.
Both players are highly thought of within the England set-up and have played for their country’s Under-20s side.
Southampton could also be a good destination if they are to move on with the Saints renowned for giving opportunities to young players if they are good enough.
It is likely that Davis and Green would be heavily involved in Villa’s plans next season and they could take the places of older pros that are sold to raise funds.
However, lucrative deals for the club may change that viewpoint and the chance for the players to prove themselves in the Premier League may sway their thoughts.
The Saints are likely to be in the market for attacking players after two seasons of lacking creativity and goals up-front.
