Manager, Goalkeeper and Defenders

Ralph Hasenhuttl, Manager – 7.5

Returned to a solid set-up to face Liverpool and this allowed Saints to have a good go at the title challengers. Now has some good options in terms of systems to deploy in the final six games.

Angus Gunn, Goalkeeper – 6.5

Good save to deny Mane from close-range in the first-half but Keita’s header proved to powerful for him. Left fairly helpless by the last two Liverpool goals too.

Yan Valery, Right Wing-Back – 6

Some joy down the right in the early stages of the second-half but one of his more quiet games as Saints were pushed back.

Jan Bednarek, Centre-Back – 6

Five aerial duels won but not too involved in action inside the area.

Maya Yoshida, Centre-Back – 6.5

Fortunate to not give away a penalty when bringing down Keita in the area but also made a superb last-ditch block to deny Firmino.

Jannik Vestergaard, Centre-Back – 7.5

A team high of eight tackles during the game and three aerial duels won saw the Dane make a strong return to the side.

Ryan Bertrand, Left Wing-Back – 7.5

His crosses from the left were pinpoint. One led to the Saints opener and another could have seen a second for Long in the first-half.
