Southampton have reportedly agreed two deals with Spurs for the transfers of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Kyle Walker-Peters.

Via multiple sources including the Daily Echo’s Dan Sheldon, The Sun’s Tom Barclay, BBC Radio Solent’s Adam Blackmore and talkSPORT’s Alex Crook, Saints will get a fee of £25m for Hojbjerg and will sign Walker-Peters in a separate deal worth around £12m.

Talks between Saints and Spurs had been going on for a while and it looked like an agreement was some way off before this news. Sources close to Spurs even reported that a fee of £15m had been agreed at the beginning of this week.

However, it appears that Saints have got the fee they set out to get for their former captain and they can now pursue their own targets to prepare for the 2020/21 season.

Centre-Back Mohammed Salisu looks set to join from Real Valladolid in an £11m transfer too as Ralph Hasenhuttl builds an exciting looking squad.

With a central defender and right-back set to arrive soon, Saints must also be looking at a replacement for Hojbjerg.

Links have been made to moves for Celtic’s Olivier Ntcham and Schalke 04’s Weston McKennie – both of whom would be good additions to the team and fit in with the blueprint of targeting young players with significant potential.

Ntcham would most likely be a cheaper option but Saints’ choice on their midfield signing will be made on their remaining budget and, indeed, on whether they want to bring Harrison Reed back into the fold.

Reed has impressed hugely once again with a loan spell in the Championship and gained promotion to the Premier League with his temporary side Fulham in Tuesday’s play-off final at Wembley.

His natural traits make him excellent at winning the ball back and distributing tidily – close to what Hojbjerg was tasked with doing in his time with Saints.

However, it does appear that Fulham may be keen to sign Reed permanently in an £8m deal this summer as they prepare to return to the top-flight.
