Manager, Goalkeeper and Defenders

Ralph Hasenhuttl, Manager – 5

Has not been able to get a consistent run of form from his team for a long time and that really is a worry.

He should be at the centre of a build towards next season and is plans need to be acted upon, but he and his staff will need to be working overtime to sort things in the short-term.

Fraser Forster, Goalkeeper – 5

Neither he or Kasper Schmeichel made a save throughout the 90 minutes but he was mostly tidy with his passing out from the back.

His place is safe for now, but it’s the inconsistency in front of him that is worrying.

Kyle Walker-Peters, Right-Back – 5

He was a big attacking outlet for Saints for much of this campaign but his bombing forward is causing problems at the other end right now.

West Brom and now Leicester have targeted the space in behind him and both have created goals from that side.

Jan Bednarek, Centre-Back – 4

Given another tough game as Leicester targeted space behind Walker-Peters and put Vardy and Perez up against him for pace.

Has gone from consistent performances that go under the radar to a little erratic – much like Saints as a whole.

Jannik Vestergaard, Centre-Back – 6

Some good direct passing at times and pushed up front to try and make something fall for his team in the dying stages. Really not much he could have done to stop the goal.

Will be just one of the players assessing his future ahead of the summer but Saints will have to work hard to replace him.

Ryan Bertrand, Left-Back – 5

Not involved in much at all at either end of the pitch and this summed up a display from him and his teammates that lacked conviction.

It will be interesting to see if Saints let him go on a free transfer and allow younger talent to provide the future options at left-back.
