Kuryu Matsuki will be further pushed to Southampton's summer exit door if Eduard Spertsyan's camp ends up honouring the Saints proposal.
Southampton are briskly nearing fifty competitive games since last August and the general formation has remained lightweight in midfield in them. The fans are accustomed to spotting a pair of momentum controllers and alongside them, are players covering every widemost space on the pitch.
So, it's less guesswork why Eduard Spertsyan comes across as a Steven Davis to Southampton's reputed scouts. The Saints weren't casually sitting down overthinking the pros and not-so-pros about Davis' signing and Spertsyan has confirmed Southampton aren't looming behind the fence with him too.
As quoted by the Daily Echo, Spertsyan opened up, saying: "It's too early to talk about a transfer to Southampton, but it's serious, there is an offer."
Spertsyan walking in can spark Matsuki walking out
Prior to the 25-year-old's words, Southampton fans saw old transfer target Lucas Cepeda's club openly downplaying any bid statuses. So, Spertsyan being in agreement about the offer's presence indicates that a transfer is pretty much set to take place.
Inevitably, there won't be sunshine everywhere with it and Saints utility star Kuryu Matsuki may be the one making way for the former. Had this been a Simon Rusk-led unit, then Matsuki would have had a lot of play for as the Englishman constantly threw a couple of central playmakers in every fixture.
With that option unavailable for Matsuki, a loaned out season at former side Goztepe may again be a feasible plan. They are prepared to lose Romulo's sharpness up front and Matsuki, along with a brand new forward will be enough to bolster the Turkish outfit's attack.
Else, Still can have everyone at his midfield orders but Kuryu will probably be the last one to get his nod.
