Southampton have learned who their third round opponents will be. The club who won the trophy in 1976, will take on Grant McCann's Doncaster Rovers at the Eco-Power Stadium around the weekend commencing Saturday, 10 January 2026.

Tonda Eckert's Southampton side will hope to build on their fine run of form with a good run in the world's premier domestic club competition.

Doncaster Rovers are currently 18th in League One after being promoted as League Two Champions last season. Rovers booked their place in the Third Round with a 2-1 win away at Chesterfield on Saturday.

Southampton's number (35) was drawn by former player Peter Crouch who later drew out Arsenal to play away at Portsmouth.

The Saints were eliminated in the Fourth Round of last year's competition by Burnley. Southampton went down 1-0 to the Championship side in a miserable season which saw them relegated from the Premier League.

Southampton will go into the match against Doncaster as strong favourites and will expect to progress into the Fourth Round.

Under their newly appointed Head Coach, Southampton have won five out of six matches in the Championship including a 5-1 away win at Nathan Jones' Charlton Athletic.
