Forgotten Leicester star applauds Southampton for ignoring one hiring mistake

Leicester City's former centre-back Curtis Davies has presented a must listen take that will boost Southampton fans faith in Still.

When it comes to the Championship, Leicester City can't be labelled as the underdogs but Southampton fans would have this feeling of getting an easier rival coach than they thought. After all, the Foxes are proceeding with Marti Cifuentes who was recently replaced at a mid-table club and not at any league favourite or even a playoffs achiever.

Yet, Leicester fans will back him as much as they can because they know it's up to Cifuentes whether he can deliver his career first promotion for them. Plus, they can even take pride in him having atleast some sort of skin in the Championship game but that doesn't fit well with their former defender Curtis Davies' view point.

Contrary to that, Davies strongly preaches a freshman's arrival in the English second tier over a seasoned journeyman's appointment.

Davies' opinion fits right with Russell Martin's Southampton

Putting forward Southampton's Will Still reinforcement, the Daily Echo quoted Davies feeling proud of the Saints avoiding a hiring mistake: "With Will Still, it's nice to see them go with a fresh, new face, rather than the conveyer belt of managers who have been there and done it."

Well, the merry praises aside, Davies' words also resemble with the Russell Martin call and do justify why it ended on a nightmarish note. Martin swapped Swansea for Southampton which already capped the Saints Championship progress based on his previous work at the Wales-based outfit.

Yes, promotion came but by travelling the lengthy knockouts road and then, Martin became a newcomer into the Premier League scene. But a drastic form in the first two months meant he couldn't step away from his already known-to-everyone formations, and Martin again came on the unsuccessful side of Davies' benchmark.

Will Davies' comments work well with Still and Cifuentes, Southampton fans can only find out later.
