Ex-Saint Dusan Tadic is closing on a big European move to Atletico Madrid, just weeks after being rejected by Southampton for a return.

It's been mere days since Southampton closed the return doors for ex-Saint Oxlade-Chamberlain, and honestly, fans wouldn't be over it still. And rightly so, as apart from their longing for the heroic midfielder, they stare down the Saints' plans of rejecting former stars time and again.

Truth be told, this Oxlade-Chamberlain rejection would have taken the fans back a while, when they dismissed the idea of calling back Dusan Tadic. Weeks later, it's been the same for another heroic Saint, in his 30s, who has recently turned a free agent on the back of a Super Lig spell.

To say, Saints fans would deep down admit what the club is losing on declining these returns, and Tadic has just made this fear come true as he closes in on a blockbuster European move.

Having been rejected for a red and white outfit comeback at the Saints, Tadic is now making the biggest move in his career at 36, to Atletico Madrid.

Dusan Tadic may surprise Saints with an Atletico Madrid spell

Recently, TRT Spor(via Ajansspor) confirmed the links as Tadic's entourage is in advanced agreement with Atletico. And while the final signing terms remain to be announced, a summer switch for the 36-year-old forward is almost guaranteed now.

Honestly, it goes without saying that already on the wrong side of 30s, Tadic might not be Atletico's priority forward choice. But even then, continuing his infamous red-and-white pattern, first at Southampton, then at Ajax and now at Atletico would be nothing less than a dream come true for him.

Well, and what for the Saints, next? As of now, nothing can be said certainly, but surely, Southampton have a bigger risk of regret here. And the fears are real, given Tadic, one of prodigy Dibling's star picks, has everything to prove the Saints wrong with his sensational Super Lig form.

Intriguingly, still, if Tadic gets the ground running at Atletico, most of the Saints would be nothing but happy for their ex-hero. Let's see how his new spell goes.
