Tonda Eckert's Southampton side succombed to their second successive defeat on the road as Ryan Manning's brilliant equaliser was not enough to earn the Saints a point at Norwich.

Two defensive errors by Nathan Wood gifted Jovon Makama two second half goals for the canaries who eased their relegation fears and moved to within two points of safety.

Adam Armstrong saw his first-half penalty saved by Vladan Kovacevic after Léo Scienza was tripped in the box by Harry Darling.

Norwich came out firing in the second-half and capitalised when Makama got ahead of a static Wood to score at the near post.

Manning's long range equaliser came after good work down the right by Fraser won a corner which Norwich failed to completely clear. When Manning took advantage of a fortunate ricochet he drilled in low and hard past Vladan Kovacevic's left hand.

When Nathan Wood was caught ball watching again, Makama tumbled the ball in from close range for his secon and Norwich's winner.

Norwich 2-1 Southampton

Gavin Bazunu (GK) - 6/10 - Not at fault for either goal.

Taylor Harwood-Bellis (RCB) - 6/10 -  Played far too deep and was pressed into mistakes all game long. Much better when playing over the half-way line. Slow in possession.

Nathan Wood (CB) - 4/10 - Allowed Jovon Makama to run across him for Norwich to score immediately after half-time. Caught ball watching to allow Makama in for his and Norwich's second goal. Saints almost conceded a third when Wood missed a tackle on the same player just after the hour mark. A poor game.

Jack Stephens (LCB) - 6/10 - Did the basics well. Solid defending and pushed the back three up when needed. Still too deep at times.

Midfielders

Ryan Fraser (RM) - 5/10 - Made a very good overlapping run which the Norwich keeper did well to thwart rushing out of his box. Pushed up after Norwich scored, forcing the corner which led to Ryan Manning's glorious equaliser for Southampton. Replaced by Welington on the hour mark.

Flynn Downes (CM) - 6/10 - Should have scored from the follow-up of Léo Scienza's early free-kick which crashed against the crossbar. Another battling performance.

Caspar Jander (CM) - 6/10 - Jander looked leggy, possibly the result of three games in a week.

Ryan Manning (LM) - 6/10 - Scored a stunning goal and got forward well after Welington was moved to the left.

Léo Scienza (LF) - 7/10 - A constant thorn in the side of the canaries. Hit the bar with a free-kick in the first few minutes which Downes should have scored from the rebound. Won the penalty which Armstrong failed to convert in the first-half.

Adam Armstrong (CF) - 6/10 - Fluffed his lines from the spot. Should have won a penalty when he was clearly pushed in the box going through on goal.

Finn Azaz (RF) - 5/10 - Missing in action for long periods of the game. Put a speculative long range effort over the bar with the keeper off the line.

Welington - 5/10
Cameron Archer - 5/10
Jay Robinson - 5/10
Cam Bragg - 6/10
Oriol Romeu - 6/10

Player of the match: Léo Scienza
