Tonda Eckert could make two changes from the side that took the field at St Mary's against Coventry City, to the one that will face Oxford United at the Kassam Stadium on Boxing Day.
Tom Fellows' 30 minute run-out against Coventry on Saturday should be enough for him to be up to speed to start at Oxford.
Eckert gave a fresh update on Ross Stewart who resumed light training earlier in the week. Shea Charles will have another scan shortly so is unlikely to feature for some time yet.
The Head Coach has done nothing to suggest that he will make significant changes but Welington, Joshua Quarshie, Oriol Romeu, Jay Robinson, and Cameron Bragg could all be in contention for a start if the German coach suddenly decides to go rogue.
Southampton predicted lineup: (3-4-3)
Goalkeeper and Defenders

Goalkeeper - Gavin Bazunu: Bazunu's place in the squad remains under the spotlight as the January transfer window approaches. The keeper had little to do in the second half against Coventry but his first-half performance was solid.
Centre-Back - Taylor Harwood-Bellis: Played far too deep again in the first half and was pressed every time the ball came in his direction against Coventry. Pushed up after the Dasilva sending off and influenced attacks to good effect. He will be an important player at Oxford.
Centre-Back - Nathan Wood: A better performance from Wood on Saturday. Much better positionally. Popped up in the opposition box to head Southampton level.
Centre-Back - Jack Stephens: The captain was not at fault for the defeat at Norwich and he has been pretty solid of late. Despite being dropped in preference of Joshua Quarshie on Saturday, expect Stephens to be recalled at the Kassam. Speculation that Saints are ready to bring in another centre-back during the January window won't unsettle the captain.
Midfielders

Right Midfield - Tom Fellows: Saints fans will be delighted to see Tom Fellows return in the hybrid wing-back role, which he is making his own. One of the league's most effective dribblers, Fellows is an important player in Eckert's counter-attacking side. The Welington experiment was a disaster against Coventry.
Centre Midfield - Flynn Downes: Downes was back to his dynamic best against Coventry, particularly in defensive transitions. Downes should start against Oxford on Boxing Day.
Centre Midfield - Caspar Jander: Jander is secure in possession and won the ball back for his side repeatedly against Coventry. That was until he was pointlessly sacrificed late in the game as Eckert pushed for a winner.
Left Midfield - Ryan Manning: Manning continues to deliver in an attacking and dead-ball sense. However, too many crosses are coming in from down the left and Southampton need to stop the supply from that flank. Welington may be preferred in time, but not yet.
Forwards

Left Forward - Léo Scienza: The Brazilian is the first name on the teamsheet and fans can expect him to start again at Oxford. Another excellent performance against Coventry was only missing a goal to cap it off.
Centre Forward - Adam Armstrong: Provided the assist for Nathan Wood's equaliser. Snatched at a shot in the first-half against Coventry and has gone two games wthout a goal. But the league's top scorer knows where the net is and will surely bounce back at Oxford.
Right Forward - Finn Azaz: Gave the ball away far too often against Coventry but three chances created and three shots balanced the books slightly in his favour. Azaz will most likley start which could mean trouble for Oxford at the Kazzam.
