Southampton's all-round midfielder David Prutton has talked highly about Championship newcomer Ryan Mason potentially outperforming the division.

Whenever Southampton fans might take a deep-dive into their Championship division mate's rosters, then they are certain to lament about missing only one puzzle piece. And that scarcity isn't on the player talents side but on the coaching experience side, as far as second division responsibilities are concerned.

After all, it's close to an impossible task to switch dugouts from one league to the other and yet present a case to become the league leaders. Even seasoned stalwarts like childhood Saints star, Chris Wilder have also seen their own share of Championship failures despite delivering a near flawless coaching masterclass all along.

Keeping his example in mind, Still might make it to the elite tacticians list if he achieves the only objective Wilder couldn't handle the last time around. But could there be any other successful newcomer like him? Let's see but versatile Saints midfielder David Prutton is in complete agreement.

Saints must beware of Mason's fresh Championship approach

Picking West Brom's gaffer Ryan Mason as that often underestimated candidate, Prutton was quoted by the Football League World saying: "He's very similar to Kieran McKenna. Softly spoken, finished playing football early, he's got the bit between his teeth, you wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of him, would you?"

Evidently, Prutton is one of the finest playmakers to don a Southampton shirt and his European football pedigree displays that his words can't be merely ignored just because they appear unlikely at present. Further, McKenna has carved out a respectable position among his fellow coaches, thus, being talked in the same sentence as him is a sign of a game-changing boss in the making.

Lastly, the whole campaign is rightfully ten months long but a string of statement victories will be enough for the Saints fans to worry about Prutton's words coming true.
